Megalon is an alter ego of Calvin's mother and "ancient arch-rival" of Godzilla, who was in actuality Calvin. When Calvin was pretending to be Godzilla, he saw his mother and spewed water at her, which he imagined was "a mighty fire ball". After this, Calvin's mother chased her son back upstairs to the bathtub where he came from.
