Maurice is one of many monsters who reside underneath Calvin's bed. His only mentioning (not appearance) was on March 2, 1986.

He seems to be rather lacking in intelligence. In one strip, the monsters had Calvin convinced that there was only one monster under his bed that night. Calvin thought he and Hobbes outnumbered him, and were plotting to attack. The monsters' cover was blown, however, when Maurice cried out for the others to stop shoving him. Maurice was mentioned by name only on that one occasion, but presumably still lives under Calvin's bed.
