Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie is Calvin's favorite bedtime story and is read to him by his dad--much to his horror. (Ironically though, at first, Calvin's father WANTED to read it to Calvin, but Calvin said no because "it hasn't been made into an animated TV show.")

In one strip, after Calvin's father agreed to read the book for the umpteenth time, Calvin asked, "You'll do the squeaky voices, the gooshy sound effects, and the Happy Hamster Hop, won't you?"

"Real" book

A printed story by the same title has appeared for sale online and on Amazon.com. The story never actually existed until the publication of this book, in 2004. Some fans of Calvin and Hobbes consider the book to be idea theft and an attempt to cash in on the series' continuing popularity.[1]
