Gum is often featured in Calvin and Hobbes. Calvin enjoys reading Chewing Magazine, and elevates gum chewing to the status of a sport. Calvin is not alone in his love of gum; given its wide variety of gum chewing magazines, the world of Calvin and Hobbes must contain an extensive gum fanbase.
