Calvin's school has no known floors other than the ground level. Although the configuration of the entrance varies beween being raised and being on ground level in the strip, it always seems to provide access to the main hallway. The hallway projects left and right from the entrance; on its walls hang the students' lockers and at least one water fountain and clock. It is lit by neon arrays on the ceiling. The hallway is flanked by the classrooms, Principal Spittle's office and presumably various other offices, including the staff room (or teachers' lounge).
Calvin encounters many things at his school, whether it's a fight with Moe, the constant "Fs" with Miss Wormwood, the constant coming and going to the principal's office, or the food at the cafeteria, Calvin always tries to make things fun for himself (like daydreaming) until he gets home. During his time at school, Calvin often daydreams in class, imagines being Stupendous Man, or he would ask many questions that are not according to the subject they're learning. He would pretend to go to the bathroom, or get a drink of water, when he's actually escaping from school (in one case because "[he] prefer[s] [his house's] water"). At lunchtime, Calvin would always sit where Susie sits, and always tells her how gross his lunch is, or he would buy lunch, and complain about it. Most of the time, Calvin tries to copy off Susie's answers, but sometimes Susie would give a wrong answer to him. In the hall, Moe always bullies Calvin, or tells Calvin to give him money. Before dismissal, Calvin always looks at the clock, and when it rang, he would burst out. This leads to Hobbes pouncing on Calvin when he comes home.

The recess court is accessed from a double door at the end of the hallway's left arm. The court contains swings, a set of two see-saws, a slide and monkey bars. The flagpole may be placed in the court; otherwise. The recess court expands into the back fields, used notably to run the school's baseball program.

A few readers disagree and argue over how sometimes Calvin either blows up or destroys the school and find it offensive. Watterson states they were never kids themselves.

Appearance

Calvin's school has no known floors other than the ground level. Although the configuration of the entrance varies beween being raised and being on ground level in the strip, it always seems to provide access to the main hallway. The hallway projects left and right from the entrance; on its walls hang the students' lockers and at least one water fountain and clock. It is lit by neon arrays on the ceiling. The hallway is flanked by the classrooms, Principal Spittle's office and presumably various other offices, including the staff room (or teachers' lounge).

The recess court is accessed from a double door at the end of the hallway's left arm. The court contains swings, a set of two see-saws, a slide and monkey bars. The flagpole may be placed in the court; otherwise. The recess court expands into the back fields, used notably to run the school's baseball program.
