Calvin the Bold was a name by which Calvin insisted to be called in a 3-day story arc similar to that in which he insisted to be called "Calvin, Boy of Destiny". Calvin aimed to go by that name both at school and at home. His father, fed up with the fanciful moniker, renamed Calvin "Mud" to teach him a lesson. Calvin resented this, of course.
