I personally disagree with this classification, and wikia staff has invited us to give our rationale as to why Calvin and Hobbes is not necessarily intended for children. All users are invited to participate in this discussion.

A kid can understand "financial stuff". -_-
I personly think that a kid(ages 10 and up) should be able to join the wiki. My little 12 year old brother LOVES Calvin And Hobbes, and always gets the jokes and puns in each one.
Maybe, but because of Wikia's policy children under the age of 13 can't join.
Kid's can read. But some of these strips aren't for kids. They can't understand large words, and when there are things where Calvin and Hobbes get in trouble, may cause them to do the same. It is probably the best thing for everyone.
