The title is taken from a story where Calvin attempts to bestow life upon his snowmen. He is successful insofar as having "animated" his snowmen, but they turned out to be twisted and evil.
Due to the shift in the Sunday format for Calvin and Hobbes, Snow Goons was not collected in a color book, unlike its predecessors, and most of these Sunday strips were not reprinted in color until the issuing of The Complete Calvin and Hobbes.
